Dorcas ‘Didi’ Lekganyane, aged 32, was reportedly stabbed to d3ath by her partner in their residence in Bramley, Johannesburg on July 11, 2024.
Authorities allegedly responded to a domestic violence incident and discovered Didi with several stab wounds.
Her partner was also found at the scene, supposedly attempting suicide after the tragic incident.
He was hospitalized and placed under police supervision. Once he is fit to face court proceedings, he will face charges of murder as confirmed by law enforcement.
Didi, a renowned academic and globally respected scientist, was recognized in June 2024 as one of the Mail & Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans in the ‘Climate Change & Environment’ category, acknowledging her remarkable contributions and dedication.
