Life has taken a turn for the worse for former Expresso presenter Thabiso Makhubela. After his dismissal from the SABC 3 show in December last year, his situation has significantly deteriorated.
Makhubela was reportedly caught with what appeared to be cocaine on set, leading to his immediate dismissal.
A former colleague expressed shock, saying, “We were all surprised because he always seemed so confident. We had no idea what was behind that confidence.”
After losing his job, Makhubela’s boyfriend, a politician, tried to help him recover, but his condition worsened. Makhubela was later arrested for shoplifting, allegedly to fund his drug habit.
Late last year, Makhubela’s sister flew to Cape Town to bring him back home to Hammanskraal. Once there, he became agitated and lashed out at his sisters and neighbors.
He assaulted neighbors and damaged property, leading to his arrest. After being released, he assaulted his sister, resulting in another arrest.
The police noted his drug addiction to the magistrate. Makhubela remains in custody, awaiting his next court appearance, hoping for bail.
His former boss from Cardova Productions, Patience Stevens, declined to comment on the matter for legal reasons.
