Mourners and family members gathered to bid a final farewell to the late gospel star and director of Prossy Records, Prospect Tebogo Mofomme, who passed away at the age of 36 on Thursday, 1 August.
The beloved musician, known for his hit song “Mohauhedi,” was laid to rest at his home in Ga-Mabusela Mapela, Limpopo, on Saturday, 10 August, surrounded by those who cherished him.
Kedibone Mofomme, Prospect’s sister, shared that the funeral was a dignified event, with fans showing unwavering support during this difficult time.
She expressed deep gratitude, saying, “Our fans stood by us through it all. They came in large numbers, and we truly appreciate it. May God bless them. Moya wa buti o robale ka Kgotso (my brother’s soul is resting in peace).”
The family extended special thanks to Prospect’s fans from Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and across South Africa, for their outpouring of love. “Thank you for the love you have shown us. We love you so much,” Kedibone added.
Mphoza Mashabela, the provincial chairman of The Limpopo Artists Movement (LAM), also paid tribute to Prospect, acknowledging the deep loss felt by the gospel community.
“We lost a significant figure. Prospect was gone too soon, and we are grateful to everyone who contributed, especially Mankweng Tombstone. As LAM, we will always cherish his sweet memories.”
Gospel singer Luyanda Ramatswi mourned the loss of a dear friend and colleague. “I have lost a brother and a stage partner.
Prospect Mofomme touched many souls with his beautiful sound and Golden Voice. I will always miss him and the jokes we shared. We didn’t know he would leave so soon, but God knew. Rest in Peace, Tlou Letebele,” he said.
Fellow gospel artist Teboho Motaung also reflected on Prospect’s vibrant spirit, despite his untimely passing. “I am deeply hurt by Prospect Mofomme’s passing. May God heal his family’s hearts,” Teboho shared.
Prospect Mofomme’s legacy will live on through his music and the lives he touched. His community, family, and fans will forever remember the joy and inspiration he brought to the world.
