ACORNHOEK – A tragic collision occurred on Sunday afternoon near The Village guest house along the R40 road in Acornhoek, capturing the community’s attention and raising concerns about vehicle safety and employee trust.
The incident was recorded on CCTV cameras, revealing a series of events involving a White VW Golf 7, a Polo, and a tipper truck.
According to reports, a car wash employee took a police Golf 7 vehicle, which was at the car wash for cleaning, without authorization.
The employee intended to use the vehicle to buy equipment for the business.
While attempting to overtake another vehicle, the Golf 7 collided with a Polo.
This initial impact caused the driver to lose control, leading to a head-on collision with a tipper truck.
The accident resulted in fatalities: both the driver and the passenger of the Golf 7 lost their lives, while two other individuals sustained serious injuries.
