Lekau Sehoana, the founder of the sneaker brand Drip, has publicly denied allegations that he was forced to vacate his property in Waterfall due to unpaid rent.

Recent media reports suggested that Sehoana had failed to pay the outstanding balance on his monthly rent, leading to his eviction.

According to these reports, Sehoana had entered into a lease agreement with Waterfall Residents Developers, agreeing to pay R35,000 per month. The developers claimed that while payments were consistent for several months, Sehoana defaulted in November and December 2023, accumulating nearly R100,000 in unpaid rent.

This purportedly resulted in his eviction, leaving his son and ex-wife homeless and his son expelled from school due to unpaid tuition.

Sehoana’s Rebuttal

On Monday, Sehoana released a statement refuting these claims, asserting that the reports were factually incorrect and intended to distract from Drip’s five-year anniversary celebration.

He clarified his living arrangements, stating, “I have not lived with my soon-to-be ex-wife since 2021, and I have no access to my son.”

Sehoana explained that he was renting the property for his ex-wife to provide a home for his son.

Complications with Property and Police Involvement

Sehoana disclosed further complications involving the property, noting that he had been informed by the landlord that police sought access to the property in connection with an investigation into the murder of Drip’s former MD, Glanda Ndlanzi.

Upon the police’s arrival, it was discovered that his ex-wife had rented the property to unknown individuals without his or the landlord’s consent, prompting Sehoana to terminate the lease.

Ongoing Divorce Proceedings

Sehoana also mentioned that his divorce process is still ongoing and has faced delays despite his efforts to expedite it.

“The divorce process is still ongoing, and despite several attempts on my end to settle and expedite the divorce, they have not been fruitful,” he stated.
